Photo Description
Nobbys Lighthouse, Newcastle NSW.
I’ve always had a love of full moon photography ever since I tried it for the first time back in 2016. It seems like it would be really simple, but it’s actually quite a challenging form of photography – it can take a couple of days to plan out a shot correctly!
This usually involves firstly studying maps of the coastline or landscape to plan out a composition, determining the exact trajectory of the rising moon beyond the landscape you have chosen and then carefully selecting a position that you can photograph all this happening from where there are no obstructions in between you and the moon/subject.
With another full moon due to arrive in the coming days and the forecast of clear skies coinciding with it, I was carefully planning all of this again, keen to try and capture a unique photo of the full moon, but with so many options planned and me being a bit indecisive at times I ended up heading to a location that I’ve photographed many times before!!
My hesitation on the evening meant I didn’t get to capture anything unique, however I still obtained a beautiful photograph of the full moon rising above Nobbys Lighthouse at Newcastle, NSW, and one that I’m very happy to include in my portfolio.
