O’Sullivans Falls, Mid-North Coast NSW.
Here is another day that will be lodged in my memory forever!
My parents used to bring us here when we were little for family barbecues or just a Sunday outing. It had never occurred to me to revisit it until I began developing a passion for waterfalls, at which point it popped up one day in my memory and I thought “I should go and check it out and see if it’s any good”.
I’ve been to this place now about 8 times over the last 4 years. The first time was during my early days where I was still getting accustomed to leeches – there were more leeches than I had ever seen before and yea, I chickened out and bailed that day. It’s been a place where I’m almost always met with a trickle of water over the falls, but this particular day being the day after 3 days of torrential rain, proved to be the moment I was meant to return yet again to this small piece of paradise in the Great Lakes Region. As I got closer to the end of the trail the sound of roaring water was almost deafening as it filled in to the narrow gully section, and I was extremely excited to finally witness the falls in full flow. It was then just a matter of waiting for the sporadic sunlight peeking through to retreat and hit the shutter, taking with me this photograph and the satisfaction of finally being able to show the full potential of what this beautifully unknown place holds.
