I had always wanted to visit Nelson Bay/Port Stephens on the NSW east coast for some sunrise photography expeditions. I’ve seen so many stunning photographs coming from this area over the years that it was a trip I didn’t want to put off any longer!
It’s about an hours drive away from where I live now, so to get there it meant leaving at 4:00am to get there on time for first light. I wasn’t expecting much this morning for the sunrise session due to cloud cover being a lot thicker than I’d anticipated, but something I’ve discovered over the years is that first impressions can sometimes be misleading.
Whilst the sky wasn’t ablaze with colour, there was enough sunlight able to make its way through the clouds to light up this beautiful scene.
This was my first ever visit to this location so I’m stoked I was able to find it in the dark and my mountain goat skills were sufficient enough to not fall off the cliff to the left!

Paper Types Used
Lustre paper - This is like a blend between matt and glossy paper and is one of the highest quality papers within the printing industry. It has a beautiful look to it and the feel of a professional, high quality print.
Metallic paper - Metallic paper adds a unique flair to your photographs. A high contrast "chrome on paper" look, metallic paper adds extreme vibrancy to colours, giving your image greater details and depth.
Canvas Prints
We only use the highest grade, fade resistant HD pigment inks and premium quality 400gsm, museum grade, tight weave Hahnemühle archival canvas. Every canvas print is also coated with a non-cracking UV protective coating.
The canvas is then stretched around an eco friendly, kiln dried wooden frame and finished with professional framers tape and hanging wire.
All canvas prints are also printed at a super high resolution (2880 dpi) using EPSONS ULTRACHROME HDx technology, giving amazing clarity and ultra vivid colours!
